For this class, everyone got their tests back along with a new outline for a new unit, which is about chemical reactions.
Mr. Doktor did a lab with hydrochloric acid.
He mixed it with bromothemal blue which mad the mixture turn yellow.
then he added ammonia, which is a base. The blue liquid stayed on top of the acid.
He did another experiment where he mixed potassium iodie with iron iodide...it turned yellow.
He also showed us what makes fireworks so bright. It's a chemical reaction that occur when you burn magnesium.
the last experiment he showed us was the 'magic paper'. He dipped a piece of paper in salt water and alcohol and lit it on fire. Flames appeared but the paper did not burn: the alcohol did.
