Balancing Equations!




Balancing with C, H and O


C2H6 + O2 ----> CO2 + H20

Answer: 2 C2H6+ 7 O2 ----> 4CO2 + 6H2O


***if the coefficient turns out to be a fraction you can multiply the whole equaltion by two in order to get whole numbers


Alcohols


CH5OH + O2 ----> CO2 + H2O

Answer: CH5OH + 3O2 ----> 2CO2 + 3H20


Words in to Balanced Equations


Butanol burns in oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and water

Answer: 2C4H9OH + 12O2 ----> CO2 + 9H2O

Hydrochloric aci = HCl

Nitric acid = HNO3

Sulphuric acid = H2SO4

Phosphric acid= H3PO4

Acetic acid= CH3COOH
