Hydrate Lab

Today we did an experiment about hydrates.
The purpose of this experiment is to determine the emirical formula of a hydrate.
In this lab we determined the anhydrous(without water) mass of the hydrate.

Materials:
- Bunsen burner
- Test tube
- Test tube rack
- Test tube clamp
- Wieght scale

We determined the mass of the hydrate without water by:
putting hydrate on a test tube
record its mass
heating the test tube with the bunsen burner until all the water has boiled away
re- weigh the hydrate and the test tube
find out the difference between the mass before and after heating.

  1. What were the results of your lab?

Your a couple of posts behind. So far its not a big deal, but I don't want you to get too far behind; then its definitely more work to catch up. Also, when you do your most recent blogs include examples of problems or concepts (and if possible try and make up your own examples instead of copying the ones we do in class).
